Taylor Richardson, Class of 2022

Attending an HBCU has always been a goal of mine, especially after attending a predominantly white high school where I found myself in multiple racially tense situations. Going to an institution where I am celebrated (and not just tolerated) that would foster my servant leadership amongst successful Black professionals and other incredible Black students was a priority for me when deciding where I would begin my life’s next greatest chapter. My greatest advice for prospective college students is to remember that you are your greatest competition. Your peers will be outstanding individuals who seem to be super-students who seem to be able to achieve any and everything. This does not diminish your capabilities or achievements! Know that YOU are your greatest competition and that you are running your own race.
