I say this because we have a majority white population on our campus which makes the POC individuals feel isolated in a way. There are not any resources explicitly available to black students, however, the University of Wisconsin La Crosse has always been kind enough to extend an invitation for students to attend Black Student Union meetings and events. We have an anonymous Dropbox for students to share concerns and any form of hate, discrimination, etc, and they tend to be supportive when something happens within the marginalized communities. But, I wish there were more inclusive spaces on our campus for students to network and meet with one another. We have a diversity club but we hope to make that a space that is more accessible and open for all students of color, identity, etc. I feel represented most of the time. If you are going to college, stand your ground. Make connections with staff and faculty on campus who can support you and listen to your thoughts and concerns. You have a voice so use it. Lastly, actions speak louder than words. If you see something that you want to have improved in your community or on campus, look for events or resources you can bring to your communities and make a change!
